Satisfying Those Pinterest Inspired Cravings (with DressLily)

**This post is sponsored by DressLily**
If you're like me you probably spend a little too much time on pinterest and have an ever growing fashion board for inspiration. When I first was contacted by DressLily, the immediate thing I noticed was that I had actually seen a lot of their product before... mostly on my own pinterest! I'm talking dresses that I go to pin twice (I swear that happens to me twice a day.. anyone else??)

The thing I love the most about DressLily, aside from their price is the large selection they have ranging from coats, maxi dresses, all the way to all the way to handbags (!!!) Now I admit with cheap things comes skeptical minds but that's why I cling to always reading the reviews before buying something and I was pleasantly surprised with the reviews. Never dissing the products themselves, always stating if maybe something ran smaller or shorter than expected.

There was a lot to choose from to showcase to my readers, I went with some fall staples (and ok maybe that maxi dress was thrown in there because I'd rather be on a cruise than typing in 40 degree weather...). My personal favorite is the open laced back shirt, it's perfect for dressing up casual pants and decking out for a night of fun this winter season. I already have a feeling I'll need to be adding it to my closet to go with my coveted faux leather leggings ;)

I also have been on the look out for the perfect faux leather vest to add to different dresses in the winter, perfect for NYE coming up (hint, hint.)

Aside from already being pretty affordable, DressLily has some amazing sales going on often (currently that vest was just 50% off!) It's a perfect place to shop for your besties for their birthday and did I mention the best part? They aren't only women, they have men clothing too (!!!) Basically you can find anything here...
So take a look around and fuel your "pin-spiration" with DressLily, seriously I can guarantee you will find at least one thing you've pinned onto your own boards on the site.

Last Minute Gift Guide: For Your Bestie

|1. Wall Calendar|2.Sam Edelman Pumps|3. Over The Knee Boots|4. Rose Earrings|5. Make Up Palette|6. Cashmere Scarf|7. Lip Balm|8. Notecards|9.Kate Spade Wallet|10. Perfume|11. Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick|

Ugh a wug guys, before you know it's ten (ten) days before Christmas and you were just in October like I swear. Life has been so busy, I made my first trip back home to VA (guys my first by myself road trip *insert squeals*) so I was basically mia during that time catching up with my family, meeting my little sisters boyfriend (like I swear I still think she's this little 12 year old and I hate that she's growing up on me), learning I can't for the life of me use chopsticks "I think you have oddly shaped hands", and saying some sad but needed goodbyes to some great friends.

If you're like me basically anything you see you want and you know would be perfect for your bestie too (like my bestie loves cat things if you remember this post.. seriously if your shopping for a cat lover that post is the one for you...) The next thing I know it's ten days to christmas and I didn't actually pick up anything yet (yikes) so this is for all you last minute gifters out there who love your bestie dearly but aren't so great at timing ;)

Good luck shopping!!

Open Letter To The Best Friend That Was (Part Two)

*First letter can be found here*

Dear Best Friend,

They say time heals all wounds, for some wounds I feel as though time reopens them. Then decides to stab you in the heart a little deeper each time. They also say that breakups between best friends hurt more than romantic relationships, and I think a big portion of that is due to time.

In our life we experience a ton of "firsts." Your first words, first tooth, first love, first heartache, first kiss, the list can go on and on. With boyfriends or girlfriends, your firsts get renewed. Your very first kiss with that boy you had a crush on all summer gets replaced when the right guy kisses you for the first time... and it feels like home. The problem is, when you finally meet that right guy.... your heart yearns for the friend you always thought would be jumping up and down beside you. You are that friend for me. The "firsts" and all the life changing moments to come, well I'm naturally going to want to call you and tell you all about it and that... that is when time open the wound it also so generously healed.

Lately little things have been popping up that make me think of you. The little kids I nanny asked me who was going to be in my wedding randomly a couple weeks ago, your named wasn't included. I met a boy who's different, I don't really know if it means anything. Yet this memory of you always telling how you couldn't wait to see the guy I end up with ((not to mention that he'd 100% have to be cuddly because I show my love through physical touch)) and the realization is syncing in that when I find him you won't know him or what he's like. You won't know if he is super cuddly or not, you will know nothing but his name thanks to Facebook.. if that. Chances are you won't be there when I walk down the isle, and you'll never personally know my children if I'm lucky enough to have them one day.

I used to spend a lot of time being angry, but I'm not. There's nothing to be angry over, again time happens (time seems to be a real bitch) and the next thing you know... you drift apart. Would I have liked you to fight for me? Probably. But did I fight for you? We're both to blame for that, but I'm not sad either- this is no time for a pity party. I'm thankful.

I'm thankful for the memories I do have and the role you played in making me the person I am today. I'm thankful that you pushed me to realize I actually do have a singing voice and that belting "Pulled" from The Addams Family Musical is always a good idea. Maybe the ending to our friendship isn't what we always envisioned, maybe it's not you hiding in my basement and me sneaking down to you every morning so my husband never saw me "ugly." Maybe it's not you being like an aunt to my children. Maybe it's not you doing my makeup for the wedding I've always dreamed about that you so generously always heard me day dream about over and over. What the ending is though is you giving me one more life lesson. Thank you for teaching me what it means to truly love, to fight for the friendships that mean the most in my life. Thanks for teaching me what it means to be a friend and to be there 100% for those around you. From the bottom of my heart thank you, you helped me make me the person I am today and even will still continue help me become the person I'm supposed to be even if you aren't in my life anymore.

I hope you think about me sometimes and that memories like these rush to your head and make you smile. I hope you're not angry, I hope you're not sad... I hope you too are thankful for the time that we had.

Your Best Friend

Holiday Gift Guide for Him (All Under $100)

So excited to present my first gift guide of the season (!!!) Shopping for men can be hard and difficult, and I feel like the go to option is always clothes, so I tried branching out of my own comfort zone and figuring out some other options.

I went for classic, timeless staples in anyone's life: Snapback hats, lounge pants, and even a no shave kit for that guy in your life that prefer facial hair.

Be on the lookout for more holiday guides and outfits in the next couple of weeks to come, and please feel free to comment below on any guides you'd like to see in the future on the blog.

Breaking The Rules

 |Dress: Honey Punch (Similar) ((I have linked some others at the end of the post))|Scarf: Old Navy (Similar- Practically the same!!)|Shoes: Sam Edelman ( VERY Similar!)|Purse: Kate Spade (smaller version) ((Similar color and size here))|Anchor Braclet: White Lotus Boutique (Similar)|

This weekend feels like a dream and went by like a blur. I actually had friday through monday off and was going to go home but due to different circumstances (mainly my parents knowing me too well and knowing I'd somehow get lost) I remained in Jersey. You know those moments where it just clicks and you realize God had you in his hands all along when you were being dramatic about the closed door? That was this weekend.

I actually was supposed to be off work thursday too and the family I work for called me and said I needed to watch the kids all day. I actually took them to see the new Peanuts movie, and it was adorable. Charlie Brown having a crush..? That's me.

Then on Saturday me and my friend went to this Pier Shops in Caesars Palace (Atlantic City) where they were having an event. If you had been one of the first to RSVP you got a goodie bag (which included that darling bracelet), free cupcakes and champagne as you looked around, the whole store was 50% off, and if you spent $25.00 you got free lunch downstairs. I mean how amazing. And to top it off the lunch was fancier than I could have even imagined with soup, tons of finger sandwiches, and pasta salad (a personal fav).. complete with dessert. And to top it all off I even saw another good friend randomly and it was like I finally found a cure for my homesickness, realizing that this is home.

To be honest I wanted to buy the whole store, but my bank account didn't allow for that ((hallelujah haha)) but this dress by far was the best investment I could have made (for only $25 might I add thanks to sale) I can already see how I will dress it up with blush or chambray for the spring. ((Basically expect this to be a staple #sorrynotsorry)) And seriously who says you can't rock white in the colder months, because with this blanket scarf and sunny weather... I think I'm doing just fine.

The boutique actually has an online store, unfortunately it does not include a lot of their adorable selections clothing wise but it does feature some clever shirts that would make amazing Christmas presents ((like my one friend adores their whiskey makes me frisky shirt.))

Without going into much detail, you know those moments when something happens and it makes your head spin, you're blushing all the way home (yes to quote Taylor Swift), and your mouth hurts from smiling too much?

That was this weekend...

Holiday Style Guide (His and Hers)

Can you believe it's already holiday season!? And I know, I know there are those of you out there who are refusing to acknowledge christmas right now and would rather decorate all the malls with turkeys in honor of Thanksgiving. Hey, all the more power to you but there is a very big possibility I am rocking out to All I Want For Christmas Is You…

Since there is confusion on this post this is a style guide for holiday parties, not thanksgiving.

Holiday parties are a big part of the holidays and what better start to the LookBrooke holiday guides then with a his and hers style guide! I have three options ranging from casual, dressy casual, and finally full out dressy.

What I surprisingly learned from this guide is that evidently I'm a huge banana republic fan when it came to men's clothing (and obvi JCrew but we knew that!) Feel free to comment below for any requests for holiday clothing specifics or ideas ( or shoot a tweet ((@brooklyn_terry)) or email (( ) I will always be more than willing to help you out.

Also please shoot ideas on different gift guides you'd like to see!!

Layers on Layers

|Chambray Top|Dress: Forever21 (found in store) ((similar))|Loafers: H&M ((similar))|

It's been unseasonably warm, like I could have probably shown you a look with short sleeves and shorts and been comfortable. Not that I'm complaining, I know once winter hits here it's like narnia and spring will become like a myth. With my starbucks peppermint mocha (( red cups are back YALL… as if you didn't already know by the millions of snap chats and instagrams ;) )) in tow, I headed back to my favorite spots in Brigantine to shoot for the blog.

Ever since actually relocating here I had known that shooting there was something I wanted to do but never seemed to find the time to travel there and shoot, it was always more personal related than blog related. So I'm glad I finally took the jump because guys I am loving the end project, granted layers might not be the best place to be showcased on the beach… but it's my happy place so deal with it :))).

People were even sitting with their chairs on the beach today, glorious weather. But back to fall… one of best parts is layering. And when I picked up this baby doll dress during one of the million runs to forever21 I knew this was going to quickly become a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe. ((I will admit I feel like it's a tad bit of a throwback to my private christian school days… holla)) I actually picked up this dress because for halloween I thought I was going to dress up as a nerd (I ended up being a cracked doll) but I justified the purchase by saying I could transition it into everyday. I have a feeling you will most likely be seeing this dress again on the blog with a different layering technique… what can I say sometimes when a dress works you rock it good. ((Or something like that was said in Bridewars hahah))

If you recall I already talked about how I just am not a pants person, so layering with tights, long sleeves, and sweaters help me transition over some of my favorite dresses for a new fall look. It's my favorite go to for everyday outfits and is so easy to dress up or dress down.

Day Dreaming with Landybridal

*This post is sponsored by Landybridal however all opinions are my own*

If you know me then you know I am a head in the clouds kind of girl, often day dreaming of that picture perfect wedding I've had in mind since I was a little girl. On any given moment of any given day you can guess I am swooning over wedding inspiration via pinterest, watching crying over wedding videos (seriously they are my weakness), reading the love story sections on blogs, or just dreaming of the dress. When I found Landybridal, it let even more day dreaming ensue with their wide selection of dresses ranging from ball gown to mermaid styles… and even better a section for vintage lace wedding dresses!

During beach tagging one of my favorite rituals was when me and my friend would log on to pinterest during lunch break and share with each other wedding ideas. We would even send each other photos of wedding dresses (I mean most girls do that if we're being honest.) And with the rate of logging onto Facebook and each day seeing someone new getting married or engaged, it's contagious and the next thing you know you're in 11 pages deep on wedding dresses 2016

These are a few of my absolute favorites when swooning over the dresses at Landybridal. Did I mention they even have a special going on!?! (Not to mention a lot of their lovely wedding dresses are discounted too) If you buy any wedding dress you can get 20% off all mother of the bride dresses!! So for all you brides-to-be it's worth looking into ;)

I will say that I have never ordered from Landybridal and hadn't heard from them until I was contacted by them but they do have a great selection to choose from and some good reviews. (hint: always read reviews of the product when shopping online… a lot of times they are VERY accurate) So don't let the idea of online shopping keep you from looking :)

Which are your favorite dresses??

Instagram Round Up + Life Lately

I decided to make more of an effort to upload photos using my canon more often then the iPhone itself onto my instagram. I have a nice blend going for this round up of iPhone and non iPhone photos for you!

Life's been weird, I was having a serious talk with one of my good friends about how I found myself guarded but yet not guarded enough. Isn't that funny? I don't want to let someone in yet get over attached at the same exact time. And then I end up with a mess of emotions and I'm crying into my Starbucks coffee cup. After getting denied in the major I wanted, loosing touch with who I thought would be my best friend forever… I am afraid to hope I think.

After somehow letting myself tear up while letting her into my fears and hatred of feelings (seriously that's what messes with us.. it's when you catch feelings for anything.) I ended up leaning on the one thing I could hold all my trust on… God. No matter how many people disappear from my life, no matter how bad my fear is that it will happen again.. God will never leave, will never fail, will stay constant. I found myself in the midst of an impromptu worship session with flooding tears it came to me stop fighting the current, and let it over take you. God will get you and direct you when needed but in the words of one of my favorite songs "If His grace is an ocean we're all sinking." He's got me. He is still good and worthy of praise. I may be afraid of failing, getting used to something and it leaving, or of feelings in general… I never need to be afraid of trusting my life with my God.

Lately I've been loving Demi's new song Stone Cold.
I had a buff chick salad sandwich and it changed my life (also if you ever go to Starbucks for breakfast get the gouda, bacon and cheese!!).
I finally switched from a more neutral shade to a dark burgundy on my nails and I am loving it (I also finally let them grow!!)
I'm loving the newest season of AHS, Evan Peters is blowing my mind.

Hope life is great, thanks for letting me rant ;)

Denim on Denim ((With A Touch of Pink))

That's right today I'm trying to denim on denim trend that is just as big as the suede skirt epidemic. I personally love the denim on denim with a pop of pink because to me it adds a little femininity to a more rugged look. If you haven't checked it out already, last night I posted a guest post about the importance of adding pink into all seasons and fashions.

Lately I've been binge watching Private Practice on netflix while catching up on my new favorite tv show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend which is currently on CW, seriously is anybody else watching it!?!? I'm constantly crying from laughing and inspired when I watch that show.

I think I'm all about adding a little pink to my wardrobe ;)

GUEST POST: "Propagators of Pink"

Mary Jane Fashion looks at some of our favourite pink ensembles, with both men and women favouring the hue

Pink is, undeniably, a classic colour. Whilst traditionally it has been considered a colour for spring and summer, it has begun to transcend the seasons, with many designers opting for the shade in their winter collections. As a result, it is no longer a colour simply associated with sugary sweetness, but is increasingly polished and sophisticated. It is a colour that is loaded with connotation, and wearing pink can definitely be a cultural statement. More often than not, it is a colour associated with girls and all things feminine. Men, however, are being increasingly encouraged to wear it, with Ralph Lauren and Versace featuring pink suits and cable knits in their menswear collections. Men opt for pink to express their comfort with their masculinity, using fashion and clothing to break down societal preconceptions, making it an exciting and progressive hue to adopt for both men and women. We’ve compiled some of our favourite pink ensembles in celebration of this enduring and empowering colour.
  • Elle Woods, Legally Blonde

Would-be lawyer Elle Woods, played by the divine Reese Witherspoon, is an unashamed fan of pink. In the stuffy, buttoned up world of Harvard Law School, she is a breath of fresh air. Her character and the film in its entirety makes the point that, ironically, girls and women who favour pink can often be stereotyped as superficial, vague and ‘dumb’; however those who impose such labels shed light on their own superficiality in doing so. Elle is continuously underestimated by her peers, referred to as ‘Malibu Barbie’, but eventually surpasses them all by representing her own client whilst still a student and graduates top of her class. Pink is a great source of power for Elle. When everything works against her, it is the one constant that she is always in control of, helping her to stay true to herself even when everything and everyone else doubts her. Her message at the end is that first impressions can be incorrect and that ‘you must always have faith in yourself’. Shop similar pink styles at this wholesale clothing distributor.
  • Chuck Bass, Gossip Girl

Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick, almost steals the entirety of the sartorial limelight from the likes of Leighton Meester’s Blair Waldorf and Blake Lively’s Serena Van Der Woodsen in this hit show. Chuck became an internet sensation and a fan favourite around the world thanks to his array of popping, colourful suits. Never afraid to adopt non-traditional colours, Chuck was seen sporting pastels like pale blue and lavender, as well as his bright orange trench coat and canary yellow golfing trousers. The one colour Chuck returned to time and again was pink, effortlessly incorporating pink ties, dickie bows, cravats and suits and even a rose pink pair of Hunter wellington boots into his wardrobe. Chuck did not see wearing pink as an affront to his masculinity; on the contrary, he was one of the most desirable bachelors on the Upper East Side. Pink is important for Chuck because, as his actions over the course of show demonstrate, he delights in lulling people into a false sense of security, letting them think what they like about him before coming down on them with his searing intellect and sharp wit. Pink is the perfect hue to create his suave image and he carries it off to perfection.
  • Oscar attendees

There are so many successful, high-flying women who have worn pink to the Oscars that we couldn’t pick just one to represent them all. As we all know, the Oscars are the film industry’s biggest night of the year. It’s the ultimate celebration of achievement in film and everyone dresses accordingly, with actresses wearing stunning dresses to talk on the red carpet about the powerful and engaging performances their peers have given. Some of our favourites include Girls’ Allison Williams wearing a long-sleeved, backless dress by British designer Emilia Wickstead in rosy pink at the 2014 Vanity Fair party; Jennifer Lawrence wore an epically romantic Dior gown to pick up her Best Actress gong in 2013; Viola Davis wore a stunning pale pink gown by Zac Posen in 2015 that effortlessly complemented her skin tone; Penelope Cruz finishes our selection in her iconic 2007 dress designed by Versace, which featured a dramatic feathered skirt and train. None of these dresses were saccharine or sickly sweet affairs. The design of all of these dresses is dramatic yet sophisticated in direct contrast with the delicacy of the hue. They cement that pink is a colour that is here to stay thanks to the way in which it can be adapted to convey whatever the wearer wants to covney.

**hint look out for the upcoming blog post tomorrow of how I add a pop of pink to a current fall trend**

It's Officially Scarf Weather (!!!)

 |Dress- Forever21((similar))|Scarf-H&M (old) ((similar))Loafers-out of my color ((Similar color loafers))|Lip Color: L'Oreal's Julianne's Nude|Nail Color: Essie's Brides To Be|

When I found this dress late this summer while shopping for fall I knew I had to have it in my closet (for size reference I got a size bigger than normal to get the baby doll like feel). I could already see the outfit: the dress, a scarf, a sweater (when it's super chilly), knee highs, and little booties (hint these are currently on sale ;D). Now while I realize I'm not wearing knee highs or little booties in this shoot, bear with me… I went out shopping yesterday and totally rubbed my foot raw. ((Ouch))

It is officially scarf weather over here in the 609 people, let the shouts and singing of praise commence. We've had some glorious, summer like weather bursts lately (which I know I'll be clinging to the memory of when January and February come rolling along) but when I woke up this weekend and the air was chilly… it felt like I had woken up in disney. So if it's scarf weather near you, celebrate and walk run to your closest Starbucks and order a Caramel Apple Spice (you'll thank me later).

Hope you had a lovely weekend *cue the heart emoji*

A Yacht to Offer

Lately I have been coming down with a huge case of homesickness. I miss being able to drive down the road and no one automatically assumes I don't know where I'm going because of my license plate. I miss homecoming games with my family, haunted houses for halloween, or having a chipotle closer than an hour and thirty minutes away. I need my chipotle.

So when I found out about Lily Grace, I was immediately impressed with their cute designs and southern charm. The tagline they used to explain their style to me was "when the girl who dresses up wants to dress down without compromising style." If you know me well you'll know that dressing down isn't me. Just recently I have found a new love for sweatshirts and victoria secret leggings (seriously, the best… I wear them all the time which is why they needed to be washed and weren't in this shoot… oops!) but this shirt might be beating the sweatshirts pretty soon. Not only is it comfy and cozy, they come in all kinds of designs and bright colors to match any personality. The moment I saw one that had a sailboat and said "I like boys with a yacht to offer" I knew that one was made for me… it's so clever and cute to be ignored. The shirts do come a little bigger (I am wearing a medium) but I personally love that about them, oversized shirts are my jam haha.

So if you're like me and missing the south or you need a little southern charm in your life, Lily Grace is the place to go.

 |Sweater Knit Top|Jeans|Necklace (Old Navy)((Similar))Sunglasses(Francesca's)((Similar))|Loafers|
I'm all about cozy lately: from running around with kiddos I nanny, my non stop TJ Maxx trips ((#sorrynotsorry)), or the countless wawa coffee trips I take daily… cozy and functional is a must have.

When I tried on this sweater at Old Navy I knew immediately it was going to be a staple in my wardrobe this season, and the best thing is it's so light that it can transfer over to my personal favorite kind of nights. The ones in summer where its chilly but enough to just be covered in something small like a sweater.. this is perfect for that! In addition, it can be dressed down with a pair of leggings and tennis shoes or spiced up with faux leather leggings (currently searching for a pair to add to my closet as you read this) and your best heel.

I went for a more casual look, an in-between if you will, with some flats and jeans because let's be real… that's the uniform lately. Except even I am usually swapping out the jeans for leggings because let's be real here if you can get away with feeling like your wearing pajamas pants all day, then it's a given… ;)

Have you guys been watching the new fall premieres for shows? Personally I am loving the new CW tv show, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It's something new and refreshing and the premise is a girl who is in love with her old camp boyfriend and decides to uproot her life for the change to rekindle things one more time. It seriously is hilarious and includes musical numbers, which basically is everything I've ever wanted out of life. Give it a try if you need a new show or just need a distraction from life.

This upcoming weekend will pretty much consist of catching up on tv shows and most importantly, sleep. Last weekend a good pal came all the way from Virginia to meet me in the good ole 609. It was a weekend filled with too many hours shopping, sketchy hotels, and probably a few too many vodka cranberries… :))

We're just one more day from the weekend, we got this!
